This post makes it official! An entire year of blogging. I started this blog on 12/29/2010. While I completed my goal of blogging everyday for a year, I still feel I need to blog through the end of 2011 since the WordPress challenge is called “postaday2011”

I don’t plan on blogging daily ever again. I produced some really awful fluff throughout the year. Some posts were good, but for the most part this year was rather forgettable.

My 2011’s New Years Resolution was to blog daily. I started my blog to keep in touch with my family around the world. I think I maintained that successfully through the blog, but let’s face it, most of my post could have been/should have been tweets or Facebook status updates. I think I will stick to Facebook (sorry Facebook boycotts, you will have to do without me or find me there).

So where does this blog go from here? Probably nowhere. I plan on starting a new blog to track my 2012 new years resolution but not here. I’ll make a link when the new blog is up and running.

That brings me to my next point! I am officially announcing my 2012 New Years Resolution!

My resolution is to read more: 52 books in 52 weeks!

I admit I am not much of a reader. I have followed some reading trends (Harry Potter, Twilight) but I don’t often seek out books to read. I can’t sit in silence for hours while I absorb a book. I am a product of my surroundings: TV, movies, commercials, instant gratification, music, noise, distractions, etc. I feel like I was raised to be ADD and I lack the patience for most books. So in an effort to better myself I am making it my goal to read 52 books in 52 weeks. I admit that I stole this idea from a Facebook friend that completed her 52in52 reading goal this year – I don’t think she reads this blog, but I’m giving her props for the idea anyway!

1. I cannot read a book I have read before

3. I may read any genre of book

2. Each book must be at least 100 pages in length (I work with kids, 52 books about colors and numbers don’t count)

3. I must blog about each book I read (see note below)

4. The goal is not to finish a book a week, but to finish 52 books in 52 weeks (some may take longer than others)

5. I am maintaining my longstanding goal of never reading a Jane Austin novel.

Since I don’t know a good book from a dud, I’m reaching out to my readers and stalkers to give me advice. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK? I am compiling a list of books and who suggested them. If you suggest a book it is more than likely that I will read it and blog about it. Its one of the few times you will get to suggest your favorite book and someone will actually listen! So leave your comments! What is your favorite book?

Secondly, I recognize that I am a woman of very little words. My blog posts about these books could easily turn into “it was good” or “I didn’t care for it” so give me parameters! What must I include in my posts about each book I read? The more silly or interesting the suggestion, the more likely I’ll include it in my rules for my new blog, so get creative (since I’m not)!!
